Spot prices of coking coal in the Asian market went up as
Chinese buyers started restocking before the Chinese New Year holidays in the
second week of February.
Currently, market for Premium Low Volume Hard Coking Coal
stands at $159.5/MT FOB Australia and that of HCC 64 Mid Volume stands at
$137.5/MT FOB Australia converting to $176/MT and $154/MT CFR India respectively
on Panamax.
Experts in China are of view that such price increase in
imported material is backed by higher domestic prices.
