JSW crude steel production up by 34% 

Jindal Steel Works (JSW) reported an increase of 34% in its crude steel production for October at 7.62
lakh tons compared to 5.70 lakh tons in same period previous year.

Production of long
products increased by 78% to reach 1.65 lakh tons during the month, whereas
production of flat products grew by 2% to reach
4.42 lakh tons, up from 4.35 lakh tones in the same month last year
the
company said in a statement.

“The
company has taken 90 days shutdown of its Corex furnaces at Vijayanagar from
October 15, 2012 for capital repairs and capacity enhancement from 0.80 million
tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 0.85 MTPA,” the company further added.
