SECL’s recent coal auction witnesses a stability as bid prices are more or less firm in the wake of falling demand for low GCV material.
The state run largest coal producer and subsidiary of CIL, SECL concluded coal e-auctions, held on dates 10 Oct’15, 18 Oct’15 and 19 Oct’15, with 1.6 MnT of non-coking coal. In the auction company has sold about 78% of the total quantity. The prices were more or less same as compared to last month for different grades and mines.
Since May’15, after a long now SECL has been e-auctioned coal at higher bid prices in the last two consecutive months. In the recent auction out of the total quantity put under the hammer, about 50% of coal was brought by India’s big players such as BALCO, Jindal Power, JSPL, DB Power, Sesa Sterlite, Hindalco Industries etc.
Big participants in the auction
• Bharat Aluminum received total 0.23 MnT of coal from Gevra OC, Manikpur OC, Dipka Expn and Kusmunda OC mines. Highest quantity was brought from Gevra OC with winning price at INR 1,630/MT (90,900 MT) for size G11 ROM coal at INR 1,298/MT (81,500 MT) for size G12 ROM coal from Manikpur OC (Stock).
• Jindal Power had brought about 0.16 MnT coal through this auction. The company bid at INR 1,388/MT for 133,450 MT of G14 size coal (3100-3400 GCV) from Gare Pelma IV/2&3 mine with base price of INR 888/MT.
• JSPL brought 70000 MT material from Gare Pelma IV/2&3 OC (G14) and Baroud OC (G8 & G12) size coal at price of INR 1,400/MT, INR 1,200/MT and INR 2,158/MT respectively.
• Hindalco Industries received total 70,000 MnT of coal from Gare Pelma IV/2&3 OC (G14) and Baroud OC (G12) size coal at price of INR 1,400/MT, INR 1,188/MT respectively.
