SAIL Invites Tender for Mixed Coke

SAIL Exports 17,500 MT Pig Iron to Bangladesh

Steel Authority of India Ltd, a government owned and India’s largest steelmaker, has recently exported about 17,500 MT Pig iron to Bangladesh from its IISCO plant, according to market participants.

Vessel has departed from Haldia (India East Coast) port in the 1st week of October and has reached Chittagong port on 10 Oct’15. It is the first export bulk vessel reported to Bangladesh ever, according to data maintained by SteelMint.

Sources mentioned that deal has been settled at around USD 240-242/MT, FoB Haldia port to Abul Khair for grade ‘A’ Pig iron, having following chemical specification:

Bangladesh is an emerging market as steel making capacity is increasing rapidly. Steelmakers in Bangladesh have increased imports of DRI and Pig iron in order to maintain carbon content.

Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills (BSRM) and Abul Khair are the two large steelmakers with an annual combined capacity of about 2.7 MnT.
