Pet Coke imports into India have fallen by 15.32 percent in Sept’15 as compared to the preceding month. During, Sept’15, 811,100 MT of Pet Coke was imported into the country, mainly by the cement and ferro industries, against nearly one million tonne in Aug’15 which was also the highest quantum of shipment into the country since 2013.
Although, US origin shipments dominated the imports during Sept’15, cheaper Saudi Arabian materials also have attracted Indian buyers.
Amongst the importers, Ramco Cement imported the highest quantity, at 117,200 MT, constituting approximately 14 percent of the total imports during the month.
Interestingly, imports during Sept’15 increased by more than 68 percent Y-o-Y. Imports were considerably lower, at 481,239 MT, in the same month of FY15.
Data available with CoalMint shows that 4,578,580 MT of Pet Coke has been imported into the country during the first half of the current fiscal. During FY 15, the imports surged more than two-fold to 2,982,354 MT from that in FY14, at 1,354,157 MT.
