E-auction for Mineral Transport in Odisha Soon

Chief secretary directs officials to submit detailed reports on agents of strikes in mines and transport sector.

With a view to control the monopolistic attitude of mineral truck transporters, the Odisha government will very soon implement e-auction for transportation of minerals. AIso, installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) in trucks engaged in transportation of minerals will be strictly implemented.

The decisions were taken at a high level task force meeting on mineral transportation chaired by chief secretary GC Pati held at the state secretariat on Tuesday.

In the meeting, the chief secretary directed officials to file criminal cases under appropriate sections against those people, organizations and transport agencies who created obstacles in transportation of minerals.

He directed the SPs to submit detailed reports on ‘Rasta Roko’, Rail Roko, strike in mines, strike in transport sector and action initiated against the people who encouraged them.

E-auction for mineral transport is another step of Odisha government to bring the arbitrary pricing mechanism in transport sector under control. Earlier this month, Odisha govt fixed ceiling prices of mineral transportation in 6 mineral bearing states in which it had fixed different slabs for mineral transportation beyond and within 100 kms.
