JSW Steel’s Long Steel Sales up by 32% in Q1 FY16

The company is increasing presence in domestic retail segment.

JSW Steel recently reported first quarter results of the current financial year, FY16, which shows an increase in the long steel sales by 32% Y-o-Y and by 13% Q-o-Q and stood at 0.62 MnT. Similarly, standalone production of crude steel has also increased by 10% Y-o-Y and by 11% Q-o-Q and stood at 3.4 MnT in Q1 FY16.

The company sales of long steel products (TMT and wire rod) has increased in the domestic market, especially in the retail segments. The company, to increase market share, is focusing more in the areas where it did not have presence earlier.

A top official of the company said, “In retail side, sales in north and south regions has grown by 40% and 38% respectively in the last quarter. The consumers are now more aware and look for quality and branded products, particularly construction steel like TMT bars and wire rods, which are growing at much faster face in the retail market.
