Market for spot coking coal has remained firm.
Currently, the market for Premium Low-volume grade stands at $158.5/MT whereas, prices for HCC 64 Mid-volume stands at $145/MT with
unchanged offer prices.
Second tier HCC material was heard being offered around $158
CFR India. However, mill owners and buyers for Indian coking coal are now
weighing benefits of procuring met coke from China against coking coal from
Australia. Experts are of view that an assortment of both the material may be
procured in India.
Some traders also indicated that Australian coking coal
prices may come under pressure owing to more attractive met coke prices in
China.
