Ship-breaking melting scrap prices opened higher by INR 300/t d-o-d today in the Gujarat’s Alang market. HMS (80:20) prices currently stand at INR 39,800/t exy. Suppliers raised offers following of a sharp hike in semi-finished steel prices by INR 1,100/t in Bhavnagar (INR 48,300/t DAP) in the yesterday’s session. Meanwhile active buying inquiries for scrap also supported prices.
