According to Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data, domestic orders for ordinary steel products fell by 9.7% y-o-y to 2,782,000 t in Jan’23, Japan Metal Daily reported. Orders for automobiles remained flat y-o-y at 654,000 t whereas those from the other key consuming sectors such as industrial machinery, electrical machinery and ships registered a double-digit decline due to sluggish demand.
