India: GMDC emerges as highest bidder for Burapahar coal block

On day 6 of the commercial coal mining auctions, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has emerged as the highest bidder for Burapahar coal block at a price of 40.75%. The block, located in Odisha, has geological reserves of 548 mnt of coal. Other companies that were in contention were NTPC, JSW Steel and Hirakund Mineral Resources.
