United States, one of the world’s largest Coal producers, weekly Coal production declined by 13% compared to the same week of 2014.
The country’s continuously falling Coal demand and rise in use of Natural gas has resulted in constant decline of domestic coal production. According to US Energy Information Agency’s (EIA) latest report, total coal production on week 17declined slightly from the production in the preceding week.
East of the Mississippi River produced about 7 mmst (declined by 1% week on week) and West of the Mississippi River’s produce totaled 9.8 mmst (declined by 1% week on week), according to weekly figures released by the EIA, on 30 Apr’15.

According to EIA’s projections, US Coal production was 926 mmst in FY15, missing its target for the fiscal by 17 mmst, as both domestic and export demand are falling sharply.
The country has produced about 298.4 mmst YTD Coal, including Coking, Non-coking & Anthracite, which is about 5.2% lower when compared to YTD Coal production in 2014.
