Japan: Ferro silicon imports drop by 4% y-o-y in CY’22

Japan’s ferro silicon imports decreased by 4% y-o-y to 427,035 t in CY’22 against 443,400 t in CY’21, as per Customs data.
China was the largest exporter at 127,870 t followed by Russia at 109,521 t and Malaysia at 75,053 t.
However, Japan’s monthly imports of ferro silicon nearly increased by 25% m-o-m to 31,292 t in Dec’22.
