Shanxi, leading coke producing province in China, aims to fully shut down coke ovens with chamber height of 4.3 meter and below by the end of CY23 to curb carbon emissions. Also, those coke ovens which are unable to meet ultra-low emissions standard issued will also be closed by year-end. Shanxi accounted for 20% of China’s total coke output during Jan-Nov’22.
