China’s key east to west rail route, Watang-Rizhao, carried a total of 103 mnt of coal in 2022, exceeding the 100-mnt mark. The railway starts from top coal-producing base of Shanxi province to Rizhao port in eastern China’s Shandong province, connecting seven major railway routes. In 2020, the railway transported 73.9 mnt of coal.
