Godawari Power & Ispat receives consent from government of India, for doubling its Iron ore mining capacity to 1.4 MnT pa, close to the existing mine.
It currently operates 0.7 MnT pa captive Iron ore mine, Ari Dongri, in Kanker district in the southern region of the state of Chhattisgarh.
The company had applied for extension of Iron ore mining capacity in Chhattisgarh. On 19 Feb’15, the application was approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests & Climate Change (Forest Conservation Division), under section-2 of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
It may take 3-4 month’s for the company to start operations at the additional 0.7 MnT pa capacity in Kanker district in the southern region of Chhattisgarh.
As of now, the miner is reliant on merchant miners located in the state of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, for sourcing nearly 85% of total Iron ore requirement, which may eventually lessen to 50% from Q3 FY16.
Godawari Power & Ispat is operating a 1.8 MnT pa Iron Pellet plant in Raipur (Chhattisgarh), which is utilized for both in-house consumption as well as domestic sale.
