In the recent coal auctions started from 14 Feb’15, a very aggressive bidding has been seen by Steel, Power and Cement companies based in India. The 4th day of auction has ended with winners namely Jaypee, Vedanta & OCL Iron & Steel with highest bids.
Coal Ministry has received highest bids from the blocks kept for Steel sector. Till date, 4 reverse (Power) and 7 forward (Steel, Cement) auctions have successfully accomplished by the ministry. In auction for 11 blocks, Bharat Aluminium Company has quoted highest bid of INR 3,025/MT, while, another largest bidder, Durgapur Power Projects has won with bid of INR 940/MT.
At the end of the day, Jaypee, Vedanta groups & OCL Iron & Steel have emerges as the winners of blocks namely Amelia (North), Chotia and Ardhagram respectively. Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), a group company of Vedanta, has won Chotia (Chhattisgarh) block at INR 3,025/MT with extractable reserves of 13.57 MnT. The company has defeated Kumar Mangalam Birla, Hindalco, UltraTech Cement and others.
Amelia (North) based in Madhya Pradesh has received final winning bid at INR 712/MT by Jaiprakash Power Ventures, flagship company of Jaypee Group. On Monday, Jaiprakash Associates, a group company of Jaypee Group, had won Mandla North block based in Chhattisgarh.
Ardhagram mine situated at West Bengal with 19.2 MnT reserves has won by OCL Iron & Steel with highest bid at INR 2,302/MT.
