Shanxi, major coal producing province in China, plans to build national green coking industry and dismantle all 4.3 m coke ovens to reach ultra-low emission standard by the end of 2023. The existing coal-fired power units will be upgraded and transformed to improve energy efficiency. No new captive coal-fired generating units will be added. The existing plants will be converted to public power plants.
