Thailand opts for coal to reduce natural gas pressure

Thailand is going to use more coal for power generation to cope up with the pressure brought by record-high global natural gas prices. The country also plans to extend lifespans of some coal-fired power plants and to build four new coal-fired power generators by 2034. Notably, natural gas generates 55% of Thailand’s electricity and of the gas consumed, about 30% is LNG.
