The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. (Tangedco), owned by the Tamil Nadu government, will be importing 2.2 mnt of thermal coal in the current financial year. A tender has been floated and will be finalised within a few days. Tamil Nadu depends on coal and wind for power generation. The state generates 4,320 MW of power through thermal plants.
