India: OMC Chrome Ore Prices decline in December

Chrome ore prices of the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has declined slightly in the December round of e-auction. The 54+ grade friable Chrome ore prices from South Kaliapani mines have fallen by 6.27% to INR 15,804/MT from INR 16,052/MT in November. Similarly, the 52-54 grade prices have declined by 8.61% to INR 15,045/MT from INR 15,906/MT in the previous month. Whereas, 50-52 grade Friable prices have posted a slight increase of 5.39% to INR 13,471/MT from INR 12,781/MT in the previous month. While, Concentrate Chrome ore prices have increased.

There were total 16,800 MT Friable and 13,00 MT Concentrate ore on offer in the December round of e-auction, which was conducted on pan India basis. Shyam Metalics has got an allocation of 4,900 MT. While, Tirumala Balajee has received 4,300 MT, PL Alloys 1,200 MT and Rohit Ferrotech 4,800 MT.

Odisha starts Monthly Supply of Chrome Ore to Local Units

Leading Chrome ore buyers like JSL and VISA have shown less interest in the auction as the state government has started supply of Chrome ore on monthly basis from December. The material is being supplied to the state based Ferrochrome units at the above prices. Every month 70% of the available material would be supplied to the state based units based on the prices discovered by the national e-auction for the rest 30% material.
