China-backed 14 coal plants start operations despite govt’s no overseas coal pledge

A total of 14 China-backed coal-fired plants started operations across the world, mostly in Asia this year, a report from the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) showed. This came despite the Chinese government’s pledge to stop building coal plants overseas. Another 27 plants with 23 GW capacity are near completion, and will likely enter into operations soon.
