China approves two nuclear power plant projects worth $11.5 billion

China has approved two nuclear power plant projects worth $11.5 bn in South eastern and Southern regions respectively. The country had 52 nuclear plants by the end of 2021, up by 6% y-o-y, having an installed capacity of 53.26 GW. Nuclear power projects would reduce China’s dependency on coal as source of energy.
