SteelMint’s daily sponge iron, CDRI, index was assessed at INR 34,650/tonne (t) (+ INR 50) exw-Rourkela on 13 Sept’22. About 3,715 t of transactions were recorded on 13 Sept as against 6,100 t on 12 Sept. Prices increased as buying conditions improved due to an increase in steel prices in northern India, particularly Punjab.
SteelMint’s daily steel billet index was assessed at INR 47,700/tonne (t) (+ INR 300/t) exw-Raipur on 13 Sept’22. About 5,500 t of spot billet transactions were recorded on 13 Sept as against 5,550 t on 12 Sept. Active demand followed by a surge in steel prices in the northern region led to the hike in the index today.
ESL Steel Ltd has increased rebar prices by INR 1,000/t ($13/t) for mid-Sept’22 sales owing to improved order bookings, sources informed SteelMint. Post revision, effective prices of rebar (12-32 mm, IS1786) stand at INR 57,500-58,000/t ($724-730/t) exy-Delhi, excluding GST @ 18%.
