US coal plants delay closure amid strong electricity demand

United States-based power generators are extending the service lives of their coal-fired plants because of strong electricity demand. As per reports, the retirement of at least eight coal fired power plants having combined capacity of 5,700 MW have been postponed this year. The postponement was further supported by higher gas prices and delay in procuring parts for solar installation.
