Indian steel ministry has recently shown interest for appointing a full time Chairman-cum-Managing Director for India's largest and state owned Iron ore miner NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation).
NMDC is currently headed by an acting Chairman Mr. C. S. Verma, who is eventually, the Chairman of India's largest steel producing company SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd) also.
With an annual capacity of over 30 million tons, NMDC has under performed in terms of production, in the last few months.
Many experts believe that the company did not have a full time Chairman for quite a long time is the reason behind it.
In a press release, Indian steel ministry mentioned, “We are inviting applications for Chairman-cum-Managing Director for NMDC Ltd.”
The CMD is the Chief Executive of the Corporation and is accountable to its Board of Directors and Government.
He is responsible for the efficient functioning of the Corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.”
