Odisha Govt. sought details on 24 RML applicants

Bhubaneswar: In
view of the controversy over the differential global positioning system (DGPS)
map for detecting the mines areas, the state government has directed the miners
who have applied for second and subsequent renewal of mining lease to furnish
details of their mines. The state government has taken this step on the behest
of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM).

In his letter to
the director of mines Mr.H.B.Mishra, additional secretary, steel and mines department
has asked to furnish detail information on the 24 mining leases waiting for 2nd
and subsequent renewal as per the prescribed pro-forma of the IBM.

The department
has prepared a list of queries for the miners which include the following
questions.

. Period for
which renewal of mining lease is applied

. Period for
renewal recommended

.Date of expiry
of last renewal

. Total area
held by the applicant under mining lease.

. Map of the
area applied for and recommended by the state government

. Minerals
applied for

. Annual
production of minerals (in tonnes) during the last 10 years( grade wise
details)

. Total mineral
reserve of the area applied for

. Gist of the
exploration carried out by the party since grant of lease.

. Future
exploration programme of the applicant.

. Whether the
lease is for captive use/trading purposes.
