Automobile production rose by 38%, y-o-y, to 63.26 lakh units in Apr-Jun’22 compared to 45.83 lakh units in the year-ago period, according to data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). “Recently the government has taken significant measures to ease inflationary pressure… reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel and changing the duty structure to moderate prices of steel and plastic,” SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said.
