China’s steel imports edge down in June on muted domestic demand

China’s steel imports in Jun’22 fell 2.47% m-o-m to 0.79 mnt from 0.81 mnt in May, as per customs data.
Preference for domestic steel, weak end-user demand and subdued finished steel sentiments affected imports.
Import volumes fell 21% to 5.77 mnt in Jan-Jun’22 as against 7.34 mnt in the same period last year.
