India: Coal production up 33% y-o-y in June

India’s coal production increased by 33% y-o-y to 67.59 mnt in Jun’22 compared to 50.98 mnt in Jun’21. However, the production was down 5% m-o-m from 70.3 mnt in May’22. Of the total output, the contribution of Coal India was 51.56 mnt while Singareni Collieries Company produced 5.56 mnt. The remaining output came from a mixed bag of captive and merchant miners who produced more than 10 mnt for the second consecutive month.
