Poland, Ukraine to increase coal production to survive winters

For the upcoming winters, Poland and Ukraine has decided to raise their thermal coal production. Poland, which generates 70% electricity from coal, intends to expand production by a maximum of 1.5 mnt. Ukraine’s largest energy investor DTEK Energy also plans to raise thermal coal production from 2 mnt to 3 mnt and will try to maintain pre-war production levels.
