Japan: Tokyo Steel lowers scrap buy price by $4/t for Utsunomiya works

  • Tokyo Steel, Japan’s largest EAF steelmaker, has trimmed scrap purchase prices for the second time this week.
  • The company has slashed bids by JPY 1,000/t ($4/t) for one of its steelworks, effective 23 Jun.
  • Post revision, the bid prices for H2 scrap are at JPY 53,000/t ($389/t) delivered to the Utsunomiya plant.
  • Prices for the rest of the company’s steelworks remain unchanged.
