China: Iron ore prices continue to decrease on weak demand

Iron ore spot prices in China decreased sharply on 20 Jun’22 as weak demand weighed on iron ore prices. Benchmark Fe 62% fines prices moved down by $9.80/t to $112.35/t CFR China. Heavy rainfall in southern China led to a drop in demand and falling steel prices and negative operating margins pushed Chinese blast furnace utilisation rates lower, as mills took the opportunity to go on maintenance.
