The Ministry of Power plans to increase power plants’ coal inventory to 40 mnt during monsoons. The restocking would be supported by increased supplies via imports against the spate of tenders issued. The proposal will ensure adequate stocks in monsoon when domestic coal supplies are generally affected. From the lows seen in April, coal stocks were at 24.55 mnt as on 16 Jun’22.
