India: Environment commission proposes ban on coal in Delhi-NCR

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has issued directions to ban the use of coal in industrial, domestic and other miscellaneous applications in the entire Delhi-NCR. However, the use of low-sulphur coal in thermal power plants has been exempted. The CAQM has informed that the ban would be enforced from 1 Oct’22 in areas having PNG supply and from 1 Jan’23 where PNG is not available.
