Australia: Queensland state government set to increase coal royalties

Queensland’s state government in Australia is likely to increase coal royalties for the first time in a decade in the upcoming budget on 21 June’22. Queensland is a key coal-producing area in Australia and a hike in royalties would add to coal mining costs. Meanwhile, the state’s coal, gas and mineral exports hit a record high of $77 billion till Mar’22 from the year-ago month.
