India: Supreme Court allows iron ore exports from Karnataka

The Supreme Court has allowed resumption of iron ore and pellet exports from Karnataka. Exports from Karnataka’s three iron ore-rich districts of Bellary, Chitradurga and Tumkur had been banned for almost a decade after the SC stepped in to clean up rampant illegal mining in the state. Karnataka emerged as the second-highest iron ore producing state in India in FY’22 with production climbing 18% y-o-y to over 40 mnt from 34 mnt in FY’21.
