- Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM) has announced plans to increase domestic nickel production by 55,500 t from April’22 to March’23, which is an increase of 10.1% compared to the previous year, as per SteelDaily.
- SMM has predicted that nickel demand for battery production this year will rise by over 20% y-o-y, as demand from the electric vehicle battery sector is increasing faster than expected.
