Steel mills in China’s top steelmaking province of Hebei have accepted the latest price hike of RMB 200/t ($31/t) for metallurgical coke. The price of met coke at Hebei’s Tangshan rose to RMB 4,070/t ($631/t) after the hike. The price rise was triggered by low coke inventory at mills and constrained met coke supplies due to transportation disruptions following China’s strict pandemic control measures.
