India: Pet coke imports rise 83% y-o-y during Q1CY’22

India’s pet coke imports recorded a whopping 83% y-o-y rise to 1.9 mnt during Jan-Mar’22, CoalMint data show. The rise came as procurement demand of cement manufacturers rose sharply over the last year. Shipments were the highest during Jan and Mar at 0.75 mn t each surrounding Indonesia’s coal export ban and sanctions on Russian coal, respectively. However, on a quarterly basis, it fell 3% due to a surge in pet coke prices following increased coal prices.
