EU set to impose fresh sanctions on Russia amid rising war crimes

The European Commission is on the verge of proposing fresh sanctions on Russia amid rising civilian deaths in Ukraine. The Commission is considering a ban on imports of Russian coal, besides blocking new machinery exports to Russia as well as slashing the access of Russian road and shipping goods carriers into the bloc. The proposal, however, would still need backing from the EU’s 27 member states.
