Shipbreaking melting scrap prices in Alang, Gujarat, declined sharply by INR 200/t d-o-d. Low buying enquiries along with the lack of bulk transactions in semis and finished steel for over a week weighed on market sentiment. That apart, buyers remained inactive choosing not to purchase scrap at current high prices, which forced suppliers to reduce their offers in the spot market.
