Opening Bell: Base Metals Market Update

  • LME three-month nickel futures prices closed at $37,235/t, up 15%. Stocks touched a new low of 73,074 t.
  • Opening stocks of aluminium in LME warehouses fell to 684,250 t, declining for the 18th consecutive day.
  • Tin and Lead showed a positive trend while zinc closed after contracting 1.71%.
  • Global aluminium demand will increase by 40% by 2030 driven by growth in the transportation, construction, packaging and electrical sectors, as per a recent IAI study.
