South Africa: RB1 coal prices fall by $49/t as Russia assures continued energy supplies

After rallying for two weeks, South African RB1 (NAR 6000 kcal/kg) coal prices have declined by $49/t d-o-d to $376/t FOB on 10 Mar’22 amid decline in gas and crude oil prices. Prices fell as the Russian government assured that the country would continue to meet its contractual obligations on energy supplies to the EU. The approaching summer season in Europe has also contributed to the decline in coal prices.
