Prices of thermal coal arriving from Indonesia and South Africa in the past few days have remained almost at same levels. Slight fluctuations in the prices of South African RB1 (6000 NAR) and Indonesian 3800 GAR coal have been noted.
According to an Importer based in Mumbai, “Prices of Indonesian coal are on the higher side compared to the global market”, however steel manufacturers on the West Coast of India have largely been consuming RB2 material from South Africa because of low cost.
Offers for Indonesian 3800 GAR is in the range of $36-38/MT (FoB) whereas 4200 GAR is at $43/MT (FoB). South African RB1 and RB2 materialare available at $82 and $80/MT respectively.
Freight from Indonesia (South Kalimantan) to East Cost of India is at $12/MT, whereas it costs around $14/MT while it reaches West Coast of India.
