South Korea’s export volumes of stainless steel hot-rolled (HR) wide steel strips and HR products was recorded at 42,710 tonnes (t) in Jan’22, down 10.7% from the previous month and 18.3% from the same month of the previous year, according to the Korea Steel Association.
The average unit price based on customs clearance was $2,334/t, up 5.6% from the previous month and 42.1% from the same month of the previous year.
Exports of stainless steel HR products
As a result of examining the export share of stainless steel hot-rolled products by regions, Northeast Asia was 35.5%, Southeast Asia was 41.9%, and Europe was 21.1%.
A total of 17,916 t was exported to Southeast Asia, of which 11,447 t was exported to Thailand and 6,402 t to Vietnam, 15,116 t were exported to Northeast Asia, 1,519 t to China and 4,647 t to Japan, 9,002 t were exported to Europe, 7,436 t were exported to Turkey and 996 t to Italy.
Exports on yearly basis
On the other hand, the export volume of 300 series stainless steel hot-rolled products in Jan’21 was 39,163 t, while the average export price stood at $2,402/t. In the case of 300 series, 15,704 t were exported to Southeast Asia, 15,166 t to Japan and China, and 8,293 t to Europe.
