Vietnam: Domestic scrap prices inch up on supply tightness

  • Scrap prices in Vietnam have increased further on limited availability amid Covid concerns and the hike in imported scrap offers.
  • The procurement prices of H1 and H2 grades are at VND 12,500/kg ($543/t) and VND 12,200/kg ($530/t), respectively, a marginal rise of 100 VND /kg ($4.3/t) compared to prices assessed on 17 Jan’22.
  • Import prices of Japanese bulk H2 scrap are assessed at $510-515/t CFR.
