US thermal coal exports rose sharply by 51% y-o-y to 27.6 mn t during Jan-Nov’21, customs data showed. Shipments to India were the highest at 10 mn t, a rise of 51% on year, due to India’s imports from South Africa and Indonesia getting impacted by weather and logistics disruptions. Exports to China surged to 0.9 mn t in Jan-Nov’21 amid China’s ban on Australian coal.
