Iran: Steel consumption declines sharply in Mar-Sep’21

Iran’s steel consumption decreased significantly during the first half of the current Persian year (Mar-Sep’21), according to latest data published by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA). The reason, probably, was rampant power outages in the Islamic Republic.

  • The consumption of total finished steel decreased by 16%, y-o-y.
  • Sponge iron consumption decreased by 8% on a yearly basis to 14 mn t.
