South African RB1 (6000 NAR) coal prices have fallen from $236/t on 5 Oct’21 to $209/t on 6 Oct amid 40% correction in UK gas contract prices for Nov delivery. The Russian government seeks to stabilise global energy prices by increasing gas supplies to Europe. This has impacted coal index prices as due to LNG crisis, many economies increased coal purchases ahead of winter.
